USES FOR PROPYLENE GLYCOL:
For use in solar boilers / heaters as a heat transfer fluid dilute the propylene glycol 1:1 with water.
Non-toxic antifreeze in breweries and dairies; brake fluid; substitute for ethylene glycol and glycerol; manufacture of synthetic resins.
Added to foods as a humefactant or solvent for artificial colouring or flavouring agents.
Is a component of cosmetic preparations.
Solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable or topical formulations (Smolinske et al, 1987).

How to use propylene glycol to make a lava lamp:The original formula for making lava lamps recommends using propylene glycol at a ratio of 30:70 with water. The lava is simply a mineral oil which floats through the glycol solution after being heated with a 40W bulb.
