CALCIUM CHLORIDE FOOD GRADE

( PLEASE NOTE: ALL PRICES INCLUDE DELIVERY AND VAT )

Calcium chloride is used in the irrigation of mushrooms to enhance whiteness and to reduce harmful pathogens and bacterial blotch. It helps to improve the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. It acts as a soil amendment treatment to reduce sodium levels in soil and improve soil tilth. As a pre-harvest treatment (foliar application) it is used to reduce physiological disorders for apple and tomato producers like cork spot and bitter pit (see more details below for treatments).

Other uses include:
A drying agent to remove moisture (desiccant).
An ice melting compound.
Used in cheese making.
A preservative in the canning of vegetables and other foods.
A sequestrant or firming agent in food production.
An accelerant for concrete setting.

In reef aquariums to add calcium for growth of coral, clams algae etc.

Dosage rates for use in aquariums: To raise gH by 1 dgH in 1 gallon of water using calcium chloride dihydrate and
magnesium sulfate heptahydrate while maintainig a 4:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium cations:

- Add 0.07939 grams of CaCl2*2H2O
- Add 0.03328 grams of MgSO4*7H2O

i.e. For 55 gallons, this would be 4.37 grams CaCl2*2H2O and 1.83 grams of MgSO4*7H2O.

  • Rapid dissolving solid.
  • Fast release of calcium ions into solution.
  • Food grade - safe to use in food and agricultural applications.
  • High grade with low levels of impurities.
  • Versatile - has many applications.

Directions for use will depend on intended application.
Please contact office for specific requirements.
